Further methods to manage hedgerows
When a hedgerow ages or becomes weaker, hedge laying and coppicing are two methods which can help increasing growth and improve the structure and strength of your hedge. Laying weaves the stems of the hedge into a fixed position – known as pleaching. Coppicing cuts the hedge at ground level to encourage regeneration. Both methods are ideal for a hedge that acts as a livestock barrier or will need to resist force.
